Gor 3 Buchholz Relay
The GOR-3 Buchholz Relay is a gas and oil-operated protection device designed for oil-immersed power and distribution transformers and reactors with conservators. It is installed in the pipeline between the transformer main tank and conservator to detect internal faults and abnormal oil movement. GOR-3 is a commonly specified Buchholz Relay model and is also listed in transformer procurement specifications.
The relay detects gas accumulation, sudden oil flow/oil surge and abnormal oil-level conditions caused by internal transformer faults. Depending on the fault severity, the relay provides Alarm and Trip contacts to initiate appropriate protection and isolate the transformer.
The GOR-3 is available in configurations including double-float construction and magnetic/reed-switch contact arrangements, depending on the required specification.
