Working Principle
When transformer cools, outside air is drawn into the conservator tank. This air passes through silica gel crystals inside the breather. The silica gel absorbs moisture and prevents water vapor from entering the transformer oil. When saturated, the silica gel changes color indicating the need for replacement or regeneration.
 
Maintenance
Regularly check silica gel color. Replace or regenerate once fully saturated. Silica gel can be reactivated by controlled heating. Maintain proper oil level in oil cup for effective dust filtration.
